I didn’t know what to expect from my presentation at Funnel Hacking Live this year, but let’s just say… I’m still reeling from the experience!

As you guys probably know, I recently spoke at Funnel Hacking Live, and I want to do a little recap of my experience there today…

In the last week of January, after spending almost a month in Boise, Idaho, I hopped a plane to Nashville for the biggest speaking engagement of my life –  Funnel Hacking Live. The moment I stepped on that plane, I thought, “okay – this is it. It’s all happening.”

I tried my best to go into FHL feeling calm and confident, and letting my movement lead me. This was only my second public appearance since I announced my marriage ending and my new name, so I really didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know how I’d feel when people approached me to talk about it; I wasn’t sure I was prepared enough to take in some of the things people would say… but I knew that, no matter what, I wanted to be really present and enjoy the moment… because speaking at FHL this year was really a dream come true for me!

Its been such a whirlwind and I feel like I’m still recovering – I definitely didn’t sleep more than 4-6 hours every night for the past couple weeks…

There are so many parts of the FHL journey I want to share with you – like how I scrapped my whole presentation and started over a week before… or the night before I rehearsed it all the way through for the first time and it was 40 minutes long and I only had a 28 minute time slot!

Anyway – its obviously a bit of a sensitive time, as much as I had visualized this moment at FHL, and taking the stage, hearing my name announced, crushing my presentation… which I believe I did! I had also imagined who would be there to send me up on stage, and who would be the first person I saw when exiting the stage… but one thing that I kept thinking over and over was that… it all went better than I could have ever imagined. EVERYTHING.

And I won’t lie, there were some more difficult moments. More than anything, it was sometimes difficult to keep up with the energy in every room. If you’ve ever been to FHL, you know that everywhere you go, everybody is so energetic and excited to be there, which is so amazing… but it can also get draining if you don’t take care of yourself, make sure to get your sleep, and so on.

And walking around FHL even before my speech, having people come up to me, take selfies with me, ask for my advice, and tell me their stories… there’s truly nothing better! I can’t help but think of where I started in this business. When I was working with local businesses and all I had was an iPhone and a lamp with no lampshade to film my videos with… and now we’re here.

It’s a real testament to what hard work can do. I’ve literally dreamed of being asked to speak at FHL for years and I’m still buzzing knowing it actually happened.

To top it all off, my presentation went amazingly well. I don’t know what I expected, but I certainly didn’t anticipate the amazing reaction that I got as soon as I stepped through those doors.

Honestly, the most nerve-wracking part was waiting backstage as the smoke began to fill up the box that I was standing in.

All of a sudden, I couldn’t remember the first line of my presentation and that was all I could think about before the doors parted and I stepped out.

All of a sudden, everybody was on their feet and all I could hear was applause… and I hadn’t even said a word yet! I had to actually motion the crowd to sit down because I had a time limit for my presentation and I had always gone over time in rehearsal.

I’m still receiving message after message of positivity from people who saw my presentation. I’m so glad to know what I had to say has been motivating people to really go after impact and profit for their businesses.
