How a Dental Hygienist Built a 7-Figure YouTube Agency

Marley Jaxx dental hygienist to entrepreneur

I usually have a hard time answering the question when someone asks “what do you do for fun, outside of work?”. Mostly because I believe that us entrepreneurial personality types typically love what we do for work. Many businesses are built from turning a hobby into a career. I think that’s how a lot of entrepreneurs get their start. They experience their own problem, become passionate about finding the solution. Then once they find that solution, they become passionate about sharing it with others.

I hope that’s why you’re here. Because you’ve found the answer to something that could impact many lives and know that YouTube could be the key to reaching them. I know it can too, and as a young former dental hygienist from Canada who kind of just stumbled into it through trial and error… I’d love to share any of my knowledge and resources to support you in your mission to accomplish that.

Just for context, and so that you know my background for where this is coming from… here was my journey:

2016 – I started a social media side business

2017 – I left my 9-5 as a dental hygienist to go into business full time

2018 – I attended my first Funnel Hacking Live event

2019 – Earned my first million dollars in revenue

2020 – Had a million dollar year.

So much of that success is because of mentors who guided the path, my thirst for knowledge and personal growth.

Funnel Hacking Live was really the pivotal moment in my business. I had only just heard of ClickFunnels, a software that many other social media managers were raving about. I went to this event to see what all the fuss was about. Let me tell you… I drank the kool-aid. I get why this software company has really created such a cult-ure ;). I sat in the audience astonished, learning new strategies I’d never heard of before, and watching real people, just like me, overcome their mindset gremlins, expand their limits, and cross the stage to earn their two comma club award. The award given when your business earns a million dollars in revenue. All I needed was that example. To be shown, if they can do it… I can do it too.

When I was a dental hygienist my loftiest goal was hoping that I could make 6 figures in a year. One hundred thousand dollars in a year?! What a dream! When I started my business I thought making ten thousand dollars a month would be luxury! Yet here I was, in the audience of this conference that really feels more like a rock concert… smacked in the face with the realization that I had been dreaming way too small.

I hope to always have those eye opening moments as I evolve to new levels, and I hope you do too. I’ve been humbled to realize that there’s still so much more growth to come. And as we reach a new milestone it becomes “new level, new devil”. Our challenges just evolve as we do. And our business will only grow to the level that we do. Part of the reason I started this blog was to document my lessons along the way for me to look back on, and provide some perspective and value to anyone else who may come across it. So hi, thanks for being here. I hope this provides some aha moments for you like they did for me. 🙂

Today I run a thriving YouTube video marketing agency serving 7, 8, and 9 figures entrepreneurs. Forbes and other reputable business publications have featured me. LinkedIn has hired me to teach video marketing on their LinkedIn Learning platform with millions of users. Daymond John of Shark Tank flew me to New York City to help his team with his content strategy. I say this not to brag but to demonstrate how much it impacted me when attending my first Funnel Hacking Live helped me to raise the ceiling on what I thought was possible. If not for that eye opening moment, I may still be cleaning teeth at the dental office and doing this little social media thing on the side.

Two years after I attended my first Funnel Hacking Live, I was thrilled to be asked to speak on that stage. It was an honor to give back to the community that I felt like it gave me my start, and grew up with me in this thing called entrepreneurship.

I love what people say about the “10 year overnight success”. Behind every big break is really dedication, hard work, blood, sweat, and tears. When I stepped on that stage in front of 5000 Funnel Hackers, it was a dream come true, but behind the scenes I was also going through a devastating and nasty divorce and taking hold of a new identity – changing from my married name to Marley Jaxx. With that came my fair share of failures, breakdowns, and self doubt. All of that is a story for another time… but I’ll say that one thing throughout my entire journey has remained consistent, and that has been utilizing YouTube as a platform to share my story, connect with an audience, and grow my business. Having that as a creative outlet and a way to connect with others has also supported my personal development in ways I never expected.

In the following blogs, I’ll share with you some of the hardest lessons I learned about YouTube lead generation.

Maybe it’ll take you more than a few minutes to read through the whole story, but I guarantee it’ll save you years of trial and error and may also provide you some unexpected surprises in terms of creativity and fulfillment too, like it has for me..

These are the blogs I wish I had read before launching into the unknown world of YouTube lead generation. So, I’m writing it in hopes to save you some of the sweat, blood, and tears I had to endure.

Now, we know each other a little bit better. I invite you to keep reading and take these lessons to heart.

It’s really worth it.
