How To Create Social Media Content From Repurposing Your Videos


How To Create 60 Days Of Social Media And Video Content In 8 Hours

Shooting and editing video content can be tiring. It’s time-consuming and to be on performing can zap your energy. Even 60 seconds of airtime, can take hours to prep. Even live video can be draining. And after all that process of planning, creating, shooting, and post-production, your video lives for just a few days before it dies a natural death.

But don’t feel bad. Your content isn’t wasted. You can actually resuscitate it by the magic of repurposing. What most social media marketers and vloggers don’t realize is that your content can be batched, cut up, and repurposed.

I’ve managed to transform 60 days of content in just under eight hours. With my ten social media content types and formulas, you can create video content, images, and text-based posts that pull in your audience and gets them to engage on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, whatever, you name it. In this post, I’ll give you a Snapchat of some of those strategies.

Here are five ways to repurpose video content to give it new life.

Number one, turn it into a blog post. Videos can provide great support to your blog post. Create transcriptions from your video and post it as your blog post for your readers. You can embed your video into that post and highlight the important major points.

Number two, make a one minute trailer for Instagram. Long form content is king on YouTube and Facebook, but other social media platforms can be very particular in terms of length. Take for example, Instagram. It only permits 60 seconds. Instead of compressing everything, choose a snippet that you can share as a trailer. You can feature the initial hook to compel people to watch the full thing and redirect traffic to YouTube to watch it in full. Do a short feature that will amuse users to keep watching.

Number three, make a Twitter trailer. Like Instagram, Twitter has a limited time format as well. You can only upload up to two minutes and 20 seconds. Cut a shorter version for Twitter, and then link it to a longer form on YouTube and Facebook.

Number four, edit short form videos together into one longer video. Most advocates of repurposing will talk about turning your long forms into short ones. But one thing that most of the miss is that you can also do the opposite. Your short-form content can be put together to form one long video montage or sequence. Look at your pool of short-form content, and try organizing them into one timeline.

Number five, make an audio podcast. While video marketing is the eye candy for most social media marketers, not everyone wants to watch a video. For most people, video requires a lot of our attention. They push us to watch and listen. A less disruptive but equally compelling medium is through audio. It makes it easier to consume because it influences only one of our senses. We can listen to podcasts while doing different things. Try repurposing your video content into an audio podcast. But just ensure that the audio can survive without the visual.
